Abstract
This report provides an in-depth analysis of the Italian vocational education and training system. It explores the structure and distinctive features of VET, which is governed by multiple institutional actors at national, regional, and local levels. The system allows for significant permeability between vocational and general education pathways, enabling students to transition smoothly across different educational tracks. The report highlights key challenges faced by the Italian VET system, including the need to enhance digital skills, improve apprenticeships, and promote lifelong learning. It also examines the impact of external factors, such as demographic changes, economic trends, and labor market demands, which shape the design and implementation of vocational education programs.
