Abstract
This presentation, delivered at the 15th European Evaluation Biennial Conference 2024, explores the results of a nationwide experimentation on Peer Review methodology at the provider level in the Italian VET system. Conducted by the EQAVET National Reference Point in Italy (INAPP), it aimed to integrate and enhance the quality assurance framework for VET institutions through self-evaluation and peer reviews. The experiment involved a network of schools and vocational training centers, seeking to promote collaboration and mutual growth. Between 2021 and 2022, 14 pilot peer visits were conducted, despite the COVID-19 pandemic. The process proved effective in offering low-cost, meaningful feedback, fostering open dialogue, and improving organizational dynamics. Additionally, concerns about cultural or linguistic gaps between educational and vocational sectors were largely unfounded. The outcomes highlight the success of integrating peer review methodologies within VET systems and underscore the potential for its broader application across educational institutions.
