Article. This paper presents the main Italian results of the third European Continuing Vocational Training Surve(CVTS3), reported year 2005, coordinated by Eurostat. After an overview of the results, on the basis of the analysis of the four key indicators of CVT (Training incidence, Training access, Training intensity, Training costs), we focuses on the issue of the Training costs. The aim is to verify if, for the Italian enterprises, the (high) costs are still an obstacle that limits the investments in CVT. A further aim of the paper is to achieve a first attempt to compare the national average of the CVTS3 Italian data and one relating to a specific northern Italian region (South Tyrol), to facilitate a better understanding of the national trends. Indeed, South Tyrol presents some socio-economic characteristics that make it a very interesting case as a territory of “hinge” between the German speaking countries. 2009de_DE
